National Social Worker Month: Thank You To Our Superheroes!

“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.” – Dr. Seuss

Being a social worker means being able to help change people’s lives and help to give them the answers that they are looking for. They truly are saving lives!

The month of March is National Social Workers Month, in recognition of social workers’ contributions to society. In turn, we at PediaPlex want to take some time to recognize the importance of social workers and how great of an impact they can have in a child’s life, by recognizing one of our own.

Jenny is a social worker at PediaPlex, she plays a vital role in communicating with new client families and understanding exactly what their needs are. Jenny is able to work with every client as they come through the door and get a better understanding of all the important events happening in that family’s life. She works with clients from diverse backgrounds and with varying concerns, helping to lead them in the right direction. As a social worker, Jenny takes on many roles; a supporter, an advocate, coach, listener, a cheerleader, and a friend. It is because of her immersive and hands-on work that she is so passionate about her role here at PediaPlex. “I have been influenced by PediaPlex from working with my clients and collaborating with my co-therapists,” Jenny quips.

Jenny chose to be a social worker because of her own life experiences and her passion for caring for others. These factors have led her to become an amazing and influential therapist here at PediaPlex. She continues to grow and this allows her to better understand our patients and their families. “I have gained so much knowledge from my clients and their families, and that knowledge has tremendously influenced my competence and professional skills.” Jenny adds. Her passion for being a social worker is fueled by her love of providing emotional support to others. She enjoys her vocation because through it she can positively influence her clients and leave a lasting impact on the lives of others. “The youth and families I work with provide me with the strength and motivation to be a social worker. I am truly passionate and proud to be a social worker because I believe it is much more than just a job title. It’s about encouraging and empowering others to achieve their fullest potential in their own lives.”

This all started when Jenny was very little, “I always wanted to become a superhero, it always seemed like an exciting and rewarding job; so becoming a social worker was the closest thing to achieving that!” We can’t help but agree–being a social worker is pretty much like being a superhero. Every child looks up to superheroes and aspires to be like them. So, while Jenny might not be out on the streets, fighting crime and saving people from disasters, she is changing lives in other ways, through counseling, child care, social skills training, and so much more. Families come to Jenny when they are lost and need guidance, whether it’s for themselves or for their children, Jenny helps them face these problems and get them back on track. Her skills are a different type of superhero power, that not everyone has, which is what makes her role at PediaPlex so unique and so necessary.

National Social Worker Month: Thank You To Our Superheroes!

Jenny isn’t the only ‘superhero’ social worker out there! We just want to give a huge shout-out and thank you to all other social workers the world over! What you’re doing each day is truly amazing. It is so inspiring to see the changes being made in the lives of children and their families. Happy National Social Workers’ Month and remember: You all are our Superheroes!
